Celebration of New Year from the Perspective of Islam

It is so often that Muslims especially the muslim youth across the globe is found to participate in the new year celebrations. For the secular minded muslims (Those who consider that Islam has nothing to do with our daily lives) there is no issue in celebrating new year night.
Likewise some of our muslim brothers argue that as Islam don’t restricts social gatherings intended to promote love, therefore they pass the judgment that celebration of new year party is permissible from the Islamic point of view.
However the issue is not that simple, to find out the correct position of Islam regarding New Year night and other celebrations linked with New Year; we have to take the direction from Books of Ahadith which clearly addresses this issue.
Celebrating new Year from Islamic perspective
Before going to read and understand the Islamic viewpoint, we need to understand that what the status of New Year is for the believers.
The New Year under the discussion is based on Georgian calendar that begins on 1st of January and ends on 31st of December. However Islam has its own lunar calendar totally independent of the Georgian calendar.
Now question arises what is the status of Islamic calendar in our lives? The answer is simple; Islam has tied our lives with the Islamic calendar based on lunar months. From performing five time prayers to fasting and Hajj to the celebration of Eid each and every responsibility and festivity of Muslims is attached to Islamic Calendar.
Now the second question arises. If Muslim have their separate calendar then what is the status of Georgian calendar for Muslims?  The answer of this question is yet again straightforward. As the Georgian calendar was established for ecclesiastical purposes therefore it identifies the symbol of Christianity.
While Islam has given separate identity to Muslim by giving Hijri calendar. From this it can be concluded that Islam has no recognition of Georgian calendar as it has its own time counting standard. From this argument one thing can be concluded that Muslims have moral duty to restrict themselves from new year celebration as these celebrations are not according to their hijri calendar.
Now after reaching the point that Georgian calendar has no status from Islamic viewpoint; and Muslim has their separate calendar, let understand what Islamic says about New Year celebrations.
Here is the 1st famous Hadith of Prophet (SAWW) “He who imitates a people will be from among them (on the Day of Judgement)” (Abu Daawood)
In this hadith prophet SAWW strictly forbade muslims to imitate the other religions and declared severed punishment for them that they will be treated as non-muslims (Will be treated like that religion whom traditions and customer they had followed). According to this hadith any act of imitating Non-muslims is totally haram including the act of celebrating New Year eve.
In another Hadith quoted by hazrat anas bin malik, Prophet SAWW replied to the group of people who were celebrating two festivals that people used to celebrate in pre-Islamic times. “Allaah has replaced them for you with two days which are better, the day of ‘Eid Al-Fitr and ‘Eid Al-Adh-haa”(Abu Daawood)
This particular hadith supports and strengthens the points raised in first hadith. In this hadith Prophet Muhammad SAWW clearly directed muslims that Allah almighty has replaced the festivals of other religion with the two festivals of Muslims in shape of two Eids.
Now after reading and understanding the difference between Georgian and Islamic calendar, Status of Georgian calendar and Islamic viewpoint on imitating others, any kind of direct or indirect involvement or celebrating any such festivals of other religion on the name of fun, love and enjoyment are totally haram.

Muhammad (SAWW) Mercy to the Worlds

Holy Quran says: “And we have not sent you (O Muhammad SAWW), except as a mercy to the worlds.” 21:107
As mentioned in the holy Quran, It is the part of our believe that Muhammad (SAWW) is the mercy to the worlds. This particular ayat is amazing However today we are unable appreciate Muhammad SAWW within our hearts for his mercy on us. Therefore we need to analyze that what is the concept of mercy and how Muhammad SAWW is Mercy for worlds (In today’s world and hereafter).
Muhammad SAWW Mercy for the World
The concept of mercy
Mercy means someone who is kind, compassionate and sympathetic to others. Have you ever thought that how good we feel when someone is kind towards us. Let us take the worldly example.
If a parent sacrifices for his children so he/she is mercy for them. If a son takes special of care of his Mother he is mercy for his mother. If a friend helps other friend In case of need so he is mercy towards his friend. If a national leader ensures lawfulness and provides equality & justice to public so he is mercy to the nation. We all like someone to be merciful to us; we appreciate them, pray for them and like to have their company again and again irrespective of the level of benefit we extract from their kindness.
On the other hand, It is amazing thing that our prophet SAWW is the mercy for all worlds. Those of our elders who have came to this world and now their souls are resting in the graves; for us and for our next generations to come till the day of Judgment. Moreover the sympathy of Muhammad SAWW is from east to west and from North to south. His kindness is on Muslims as well on non-muslims. Remember love & mercy of Muhammad SAWW is for whole world and for world to come; His mercy is not restricted by time or space. “Allah-o-Akbar”.
Now let us put some light that what is the meaning of Mercy to the worlds. If I started to write on the Mercy of Muhammad SAWW so I will not be able to cover them all and my restricted vocabulary would not able me to do justice with what he has done for us. So I found out best way of presenting this reality to you. Bellow are the 99 names of Muhammad SAWW and their meanings.
Let’s revive our Iman (believe) by thinking on mercy of Muhammad SAWW hidden in his 99 names.
99 Names of Prophet SAWW 1
99 Names of Prophet SAWW 2
99 Names of Prophet SAWW 3
99 Names of Prophet SAWW 5
After reading the names of Muhammad SAWW I was taken aback that what I am doing. I am searching other role models while the life of Prophet Muhammad SAWW is there, who is so kind on us.
Today I analyzed myself and found that I am very hippocratic in thanking Muhammad SAWW and Almighty Allah for granting me honor of being added in the Ummah of Muhammad SAWW.
When people are kind to me I tend to thank to them, appreciate them but When Muhammad SAWW has so mercy on me (As shown by his names) I haven’t thank and appreciated him as I should.
This is really the weakness of our believe. May our believes got stronger on Allah and his Messenger SAWW and we start to appreciating and thanking them inside the core of our hearts . Ameen.

What is Islam? Is Islam the religion of Peace or philosophy to hatred? (part 2)

Examining Second argument that Islam Spreads Hatred & extremism
Now we will examine this argument presented in the western & European societies. West & europe sees Islam with doubtful sight because of two major reasons.
1. 9/11, 11/11 and 26/11; including all other attacks & violence are attributed to the Muslims – So it means that all Muslims are terrorists and Islam promotes hatred.
2. Muslims way of life is somewhat that prohibits living life with personal likes & preferences – So it means that Islam is something very strict & out-of-date.

In order to analyze these two arguments we have to elaborate it differently because 1st one is the acts while the 2nd one is purely a religious matter.
The first argument of inferring that all muslims are terrorists or Islam promotes hatred is totally wrong & invalid. If we deduce that the actions of few hundreds of muslims depicts the believe of 1.8 billion population of the world, then anyone can argue that say that 31 million Americans are terrorists because America bombed Japan, they attacked on Iraq, Afghanistan and interfered in many other sovereign states.
If both parties are involved the Brutal attacks then why Muslims are called terrorist and west is not? This is actually the big question which is usually hidden from the eyes of most of us. The simple answer to this question that is that most western people give is because:
1. Muslims do attack first
2. They attack on civilians
3. They attack just because they hate non-muslims or they want to impose their thinking on west

On the other hand the attacks and involvements of America and other western states are totally justified because:
1. They attacks are to defend themselves.
2. Because the civilian causalities are very low when they attack
3. Their attacks are aimed at bringing peace in the world

Have we ever thought that how we discoverd these two justifications? Is these justifications or written in any book, or it is a pre-understood thing? Have we ever thought that these things are drilled into our mind? Have we ever thought that we may be wrong? Have we ever tried to search the other side of the picture? The answer to all these questions is No.
All these justifications are presented by the Media, the international media whom reports are trusted like they are the words of God. Have we ever analyzed the number of blunders or the degree of biasness shown by the media? Yes most of us realized that media is biased most of times, but when it comes to Islam and muslims; every news, report and arguments are given high weightage.
According to Miss Juri Lina the author of the famous book Architects of deception, the international media is a big and most effective player of international conspiracy. That highlights a particular agenda because they are funded and supported for that purpose. If you condemn this argument by saying that world is without conspiracies so you are wrong. You need to update your knowledge. Because the findings of Julian assange the founder and editor of famous wiki leaks have proven this fact to everyone that present world is full of conspiracies.

So for this reason it becomes very essential to study and find out the facts from the mess. If you cannot trust someone in your life who betrayed you once so how you can trust the findings and facts of biased media? As a man of understanding you need find and establish the reality. If you don’t find reality and keep trusting your disloyal friend then you can imagine that you’re this dishonest friend can lead to you darkest well.
Now if we discuss the second objection against islam that it restricts the ones own way of living the life. Yes this argument is very true. Islam don’t allow is followers to live life in their own way but it gives a key of success in shape of guidance. Guidance from the creator who wants us to be successful. This guidance is just like a code of conduct to run and smooth in the functions of any organization, and to enable the organization to achieve it purposes.
This is not a rocket science, it is just a logical think that if a giant organization cannot achieve its purposes an remain successful then how human beings can be happy and successful without following any rules. After all human beings are not like animals to live their lives aimlessly. Their should live with some purpose. Moreover the rules of islam are not so rigid you have to just be clean hearted and make responsible yourself to Allah (The God) and not to others. However  if someone among Muslims do something wrong so one has no right to say that Islam spread hatred; rather then one make him accountable for deviating from the message of peace of his own religion.

What is Islam? Is Islam the religion of Peace or philosophy to hatred? (Part 1)

What is religion? Why it so important? What it brings to our life? With the name of religion, the first thing that hits our minds is to worship. Worship to something that is believed to be commanding, authoritative and powerful. Moreover religion carries great importance because in shapes our lives. The religion that is in the news from the well over a decade, specially after 9/11 is Islam. Muslims the holders of Islamic believe say that Islam is the religion of peace & love, while most of the non-Muslims firmly believe that Islam is the religion of hatred and extremism.
Both the arguments are completely opposite however both gets some weightage. Many reputed TV channels & magazines have done lengthy discussions on this matter however almost all the discussions are considered to be incomplete or biased. All the programs showed half picture of the whole scene, which creates more confusion to the ordinary man. It is therefore necessary to present the reality in complete and unbiased way.

What is Islam & What message it gives?
Islam is a monotheistic believes that was originated more than 1400 years ago. It gives the teaching to its follower that there is only one God and he created this universe with some purpose. Allah (The God) had chosen Muhammad (SAWW) as his final messenger to furnish the orders of creator to its creation.

Message of Islam
According to Holy Quran (The final verbatim Book of God) the purpose of Islam is peace & prosperity in the lives of human beings. Though for attaining peace & prosperity the message of Islam is very different from all other believes. For attaining happy and prosperous life Islam does not give free license to anyone to define these terminologies; and then adopt any way of achieving happiness and prosperous life according to their definition. Because human thinking is very limited where human beings tend to believe one thing right in one time; and then in other time humans have totally opposite believe. In order to prevent humans to get loosed into the deceiving labyrinth of world, Islam defined the meanings of Peace & Love. Here is the message of Islam:

  • To spread love instead of hatred
  • To treat others with justice even if you become the victim of the fair decision
  • To empower the miserable instead of standing up with cruel or showing no responsibility because you are not the affected
  • To speak the harsh truth instead of easy lie, even if someone dislikes it or even if you are crush for speaking that truth
From above guidelines it can be deduced that Islam is the moderate religion of practice. Because such proposed philosophy of social justice, social integrity and social honesty and the practical role model in shape of Muhammad (SAWW) is a complete guide to bring peace & prosperity for the whole society instead of serving few individuals.
Now the question arises that if the Islamic rules are so moderate & gentle then how we get the expression that Islam gives the message of hatred & terror?
